I was reading a good article on SI.com (you can find it here) by Jeff Ritter. He focused on some players who have easy or hard roads ahead in the next four weeks. It is interesting analysis. Here are who he thought has an easy vs hard road and against who.
Easy:
Brandon Jacobs - @KC, OAK, @NO, ARI
Mark Sanchez - @NO, @MIA, BUF, @OAK
Hines Ward - SD, @DET, CLE, MIN
Greg Jennings - @MIN, BYE, DET, @CLE
I am on board for both Jacobs and Jennings, but from a fantasy perspective, Mark Sanchez is not quite ready for prime time... but he is getting there. And Hines Ward does have a nice schedule, yet Santonio Holmes has stolen his thunder this year in my opinion and he doesn't look to be giving it back.
Hard:
Adrian Peterson - GB, @STL, BAL, @PIT
Matt Ryan - BYE, @SF, CHI, @DAL
Larry Johnson - NYG, DAL, @WAS, SD
Calvin Johnson - @CHI, PIT, @GB, BYE
Well, throwing in the byes, I guess it is hard to score on the bye week, so that is cool. Adrian Peterson against GB and STL could be good games for him, but Baltimore and Pittsburgh might bottle him up, especially if Troy of the big hair is back in Steel-town.
On another note, a friend pointed out that even though I have been trashing Jason Campbell, he did have a nice game last week against Detroit, 300+ and a couple scores. And while I am still not convinced Campbell is worth fantasy consideration for other than a spot start, I have to admit he had a good game. But what the HELL was that against the Rams the week before? UGGHHH! (ok Kris, you got your point across...)
I was reading Matthew Berry again tonight, not sure why, I guess because I like to disagree with him. But here are a few nuggets of wisdom. Read the Talented Mr. Roto here.
Guys to pick up as bye week replacements and more:
Glen Coffee - this one is obvious
Tashard Choice - not worth as much if either Marion Barber or Felix Jones are available (Jones is most likely out)
Jerome Harrison - kinda a stretch
Mike Sims-Walker - He is pushing to be the prime receiver in Jacksonville
Pierre Garcon - from a tiny Division III school, this guy is impressive, snap him up if you can, although the return of Anthony Gonzales will make it interesting.
Keenan Burton - Don't know much about this guy
Kyle Boller - Ok, this is interesting... if you need a bye week replacement, he might be ok
Maurice Morris - If Kevin Smith is indeed out, then Morris could be a shrewd pick up
