I started going through the depth charts, taking a look at the note worthy movements and camp battles now that they are nearing their end. Just a few nuggets for you to digest. I will take a look at half the AFC today, an continue through the next few days.
Dallas:
- While both Marion Barber and Felix Jones are good backs, they steal from each other. And with the 'Boys wanting to toss the ball all over the field, I can't put either in the top 10 of fantasy backs, Barber perhaps top 20, Jones much lower as far as fantasy points.
- Roy Williams will end the year as a top 15 fantasy WR.
New York Giants:
- Watch Hakeem Nicks. He had a great preseason and if he can crack the starting line up, he could be a nice #3 WR option
Philadelphia:
- Michael Vick will have little or no impact on Donovan McNabb's numbers, unless McNabb gets hurt. Vick could steal the job in a manner of speaking if he would perform well enough.
- I like Jerry Maclin. If he snabs the #2 WR job, pick him up. Watch closely.
Washingon:
- Not much to say here. I did read in a couple fantasy columns that the Skins are high on Malcolm Kelly. With him starting opposite Santana Moss, he bears watching, and tucking him away on your roster if you have room makes some sense, especially in deeper leagues.
Chicago:
- Culter might be a good quarterback talent, even great, but without targets, he will struggle in Chicago. This changes if Devin Hester and Greg Olson both have the break outs some are predicting.
- Devin Hester, rumor has it, is running clean routes and they are putting in plays to get him in space. I would grab him as a good #3 WR option this year.
Detriot:
- I don't buy Kevin Smith being a stud. He has not shown that great in previous years, and their O-line is not greatly improved. If he has holes, maybe.... maybe.- Stafford is not worth drafting except in Dynasty or depth Keeper leagues. But even with a weak QB option, Calvin Johnson is still a stud.
Green Bay: (ok, I am a Homer here..)
- We all know the obvious.. Rodgers is a stud, Grant could be...but watch JerMichael Finley. He will be a top 10 if not top 5 TE by year's end.
Minnesota:
- Brett Farve will have a solid year and is nice back up QB option
- I heard a ton of buzz about Sidney Rice early in the year, but since Harvin has been in town, that has quieted considerably. One of the two will be solid this year, flip a coin at this point.
