Spin Spit
This is what I am calling my Start/Sit column. I am going to comb the collective knowledge of the net, including ESPN, CBS Sports and SI, with Yahoo and some others thrown in. Then I will spit my spin forth on this page for your enjoyment. Care to see my spew?
In the Game
Quarterbacks:
Matt Hasslebeck - Healthy, with a solid pass catching crew, facing a poor St. Loius defense at home? Start him.
Joe Flacco - Flacco had a pretty solid season, especially late, last year. He faces the weak KC defense
Carson Palmer - With three and even four good wide out targets, Palmer starts what could be a good year week oneAaron Rodgers - Sure he is noted as a top QB, but the Bear secondary is weak... strength against weakness? hhmmmm.
Runningbacks:
Cedric Benson - YES, Cedric Benson. Against Denver, with 20+ carries, should be a TD and 80+ at least
Ray Rice - Kansas City sucks on defense. I expect Rice to get 15 carries and 5-7 receiptions, a productive day
LaDainnian Tomlinson - Against Oakland, who he historically has great games, Tomlinson kicks off his comeback season.
Wide Receivers:
Eddie Royal - Brandon Marshall is still getting into shape and trying to earn respect, Royal is the
man this week
Josh Morgan - Arizona is gonna try burying the 49'ers. The ball is going to fly and Morgan is their only legit WR
Chris Henry - I know, I know, three Bungles on my starter list, but Henry will surprise, guaranteed.
Tight Ends:
JerMichael Finley - Bank it, he will catch at least one TD and is good for 4-40.
Greg Olson - Culter will not have a lot of WR options against the Pack, so Olson and Forte will be his primary targets, and the scheme is new in Green Bay, the situation is ripe.
On the Bench
Quarterbacks:
Brett Favre - Minnesota will run all over the Browns, and there will be no reason for Favre to do much
JaMarcus Russel - Sit him, for the entire season. Last time he will appear here, but 'nough said.
Phillip Rivers - San Diego pounds the ball at Oakland (see LaDainian Tomlinson below), similar to Favre, there will be no reason for Rivers to do anything other than turn around and hand the ball off.
Runningbacks:
Larry Johnson - Baltimore will shut down the Chiefs and that included Johnson or Charles
Jamal Lewis - There will be no room for Lewis today with the Williamses' in the game, and they will be playing from behind
Knowshon Moreno - RBBC. And who knows who will get the carries here.
Derrick Ward - Again an RBBC situation and too much other talent, Ward might get the most touches, but too many will be stolen for him to shine, plus the Cowboy defense will be tough to crack
Wide Receivers:
Devin Hester - The Packer corners will shut Hester down, especially since he still has to work on chemistry with Jay Culter
Jericho Cotchery - I don't by him as a #1 WR, the Houston defense will shut him down without issue
Ted Ginn - where did he go? Did he even have a catch in the preseason? Does Chad Pennington even know his number?
Tight Ends:
Vernon Davis - the biggest bust of the 2006 draft. Sit him, for the season.
Kellen Winslow - Dallas will shut the soldier down, plus Byron Leftwich has historically not used his tight ends much
