Here are my quick observations, rants, stew and syrup from Sunday's action.
1) I was eating crow last week, but this week I was closer to the mark. Jeremy Shockey has a pedestrian 4 for 49 this week, which is more what I have been expecting. He might post a nice game here and there, but overall, he is middle of the road.
2) The Drew Brees machine continues to churn. Another impressive stat line ith 300+ and 3 TDs
3) The star of the day goes to Chris Johnson, who has a MONSTER day. 192 rushing yards, 9-87 receiving and 3 total TDs. That is the definition of seizing the day!
4) Kudos to Frank Gore, 200+ and a couple TDs to boot, nice day again what I thought was a decent Seattle defense, guess not.
5) I had predicted a light day for Vincent Jackson against the vaunted Ravens D, but he pulled out 141 yards and a TD on 6 catches.
6) Another slow day for Larry Fitzgerald. While Kurt Warner was tossing the ball around, Fitzgerald only tallied 4-34 and a short TD was all the bailed him out.
7) Can you believe the Jets Defense? Tying down the Patriots all day and keeping them out of the end zone. Impressive.
8) Who the hell are Mike Sims-Walker and Julian Edelman and what are they doing invading the top 15 wide outs for week 2?
9) Matt Schaub made a nice recovery and moves back into that tier 2 of quarterbacks by carving up Tennessee for 350+ and 4 TDs
10) Jason Campbell had a hard time directing the Redskin offense into the end zone again the lowly Ram defense. 242 and 0 TDs just does not cut it.
11) Cedric Benson surpassed expectations again (ok, how many of us benched him this week?) posting very good numbers against the Pack defense, no TDs but 141 rushing yards is nice fantasy points.
12) Who could have imaged how dynamic Darren Sproles would be this early in the year. Isn't this LaDainian's comeback year?
13) Are any of the other Matt Forte owners panicking?
14) The Jake Delhomme watch is off. 300+ with a Td, and best yet, only 1 INT... a good day for Jake.
15) I am tired of eating so much crow, but both Owen Daniels AND Kellen Winslow eat me up. Guess I have to stop predicting TEs causing John Carlson was average.
16) The Browns look horrible... looks like another top 5 pick coming their way again next year.
17) Stunning win for the Bears over the Steelers. Tight game, won it on grit.
18) Wow did the Jones brothers come back to Earth, Julius stunk it up against the 49'ers and Thomas has a poor game against the Patriots.
19) Nice start to the game for Eli Manning, 149 and a TD in a half of work against a good Dallas defense.
