Sunday Quick Hits - Week 3

Here are my quick observations, rants, stew and syrup from Sunday's action.

1) Not bad for an old man eh? Farve won the game for the Vikings and in the process picked up 301 yards and a couple scores. Not bad, not bad at all!

2) Congratulation, sincerely, the the Detroit Lions. Chic McGee had a feeling on the Bob & Tom show this week, and he was right. They showed just enough to get the job done.

3) How bad is Cleveland right now? There isn't anyone on the team worth more than a casual glance from a fantasy perspective. From a football sense, it is even worse. The Browns are on the clock...

4) Guess it is a day for the old men. See how Derrick Mason, him of the recently unretired Masons, had 118 and a TD?

5) Jason Campbell surprised me with 340 and 2 TDs, but his still did not win the game.

6) Add Matt Schaub to the must start QB ranks. 300 and 3 TDs is a nice game, his second in a row. Ok, maybe wait another week to see the consistency branding him as a stud, but 7 TDs in two weeks is almost Brees-esque. On a side note, welcome back Kevin Walter.

7) Maurice Jones Drew has a monster game, almost 150 combined yards and 3 TDs. Guess he is living up to his top billing during the draft season.

8) I was almost certain before game time this morning that the Patriots would struggle in their game against Atlanta, but Tom Terrific and Randy Moss had decent games (not outstanding) and beat the Falcons.

9) Speaking of Brees-esque, Drew was not himself. 172 and 0 TDs... yes, you heard it... ZERO. But Pierre Thomas rewarded the patience of his owners with a strong game, 126 and 2 TDs.

10) Aaron Rodgers posts an great game, 267 and 2 passing scores, plus a 38 yards on the ground an 1 TD there. Did you see him juke the lineman on his rushing TD, left him picking up his jock!

11) Nice win for the Bengals. They did just enough to win, but not fantasy stars to speak of, although Benson had a solid game with a score and about 80 conbined yards

12) Are the Buccs really this bad? I know the Giants defense is good this year but honestly, no one on the entire Tampa team posted more than 50 yards in anything, including passing.

13) Nice "get the monkey of my back" games for Ryan Grant, Brandon Jacobs and Matt Forte. All three put in solid performances and it is a good thing since I have all three in the couple leagues I am in.

14) For a guy who supposedly had a bad hammy, DeSean Jackson sure "limped" through a terrific game (149 and a TD), and as long as we are talking about those who were supposedly on the bench, how about Percy Harvin with a 101 kick off return TD plus 51 receiving yards.

15) Is Mark Sanchez completely unflappable? It wasn't a great game from a fantasy perspective, but the kid just keeps winning. Jericho Cotchery posted a strong 108 and a TD though.

16) Kerry Kolb is making a strong statement for playing time in Philly. More worries for McNabb. Now, he not only has to look over his shoulder at Mike Vick, but he is looking at Kolb starting while he is nursing his cracked rib. Kolb put up 300+ and 2 TDs for a second week in a row.

17) Julius Jones surprised me with a strong effort against the Bears defense in a losing cause for Seattle. 136 combined and a TD was unexpected, when I put him on my bench list.

18) What an absolutely aweful performance by JaMarcus Russell. Wonder if he will ever live up to the #1 overall pick status he had three years ago? I don't see it happening. He doesn't work hard enough and is not acurate enough.

19) What has happened to Chris Chambers? I know Vincent Jackson (5 for 120) has supplanted him as the #1 wide out in San Diego, but the guy has all but disapeared entirely. Is he even on the team?
