This is a week where some disappointments are going to get on track and some top performers might slow a bit. Take a peek as I spit forth my twisted knowledge and some injury news I have gleaned from across the World Internet! Basically here are guys I would start, with some obvious selections and a couple that may aren't.
Put these guys in the game if you have 'em:
Quarterbacks
- Aaron Rodgers has basically been a disappointment so far, but I would definately start him and expect a good day against the Rams
- I hesitate to put Kurt Warner here, since Indy proved they can be run on and run on well, but the Cards offense is definately pass first and I don't know if Ken Wisenhunt will commit to the run that much.
- I would start Matt Schaub twice if I could, seriously.
Runningbacks
- Ryan Grant should have a nice game this weekend. The Rams have given up solid numbers to Julius Jones and Willis McGahee... Grant should do likewise.
- Matt Forte should should finally get going as well, playing against a Seattle defense that again this year leading the league in injuries, include Lofa Tatupo.
- If Marion Barber does not start, put Felix Jones in your line up. He will shine.
Wide Receivers
- Steve Smith and Mario Manningham could easily reproduce their dual performance from last week against a weak (still sounds odd saying it) Tampa Bay secondary.
- As sure a lock as there can be, Greg Jennings will return to form against in St. Louis this weekend.
- With Percy Harvin on the bench, and the San Francisco defense strong enough and smart enough to slow down AP, Brett Farve is going to have to put the ball in the air some, not tons, but some. The benefactor should be Sidney Rice.
Tight Ends
- I like Chris Cooley against the Lions this week. He seems to be the only receiver of any kind Jason Campbell can regularly fine.
- JerMichael Finley is my sleeper this week that could go off as Rodgers gets more and more comfortable with him
As for these guys, get 'em some pine time!
Quarterbacks:
- Matt Cassel needs more time to prove to me he can stay healthy, work out the timing with his average receiving crew... plus, his offensive line is like a nice swiss cheese at times... lots of holes.
- I would start Tom Brady if I had him, but I wouldn't have high expectations.
- By year's end, Kyle Orton will surprise some people, but not this week against a solid Oakland secondary and pass rush.
Runningbacks:
- Steven Jackson could have a great day or a poor day, depending on which Green Bay defense shows up. I think the Packers will stack the line of scrimage and see if Marc Bulger and his list of no name receivers can beat them.
- Darren McFadden has been a disappointment since coming out of Arkansas two years ago, I wouldn't start him until he starts to improve his consistency (he has been consistantly mediocre so far)
Wide Receivers:
- Dwayne Bowe is not worth a start except as a flex option with moderate expectations
- Laurent Robinson will have a hard time getting off vs the Packer corners, but there is a chance if they are behind and have success in garbage time.
- Ocho Cinco will be slowed quite a bit by the Steeler secondary even without Polamalu.
Tight Ends:
- John Carlson takes a seat, especially if Hasslebeck sits
Injury Round-up: Just the significant ones
LaDainian Tomlinson - Over 30 backs can be productive, but frequently have injury issues, especially backs with the mileage LT has. Make a play for Darren Sproles if he is available in your league.
DeSean Jackson is questionable for the weekend with a bad hammy or something like that, keep him on your bench even if he starts
Wes Welker and Randy Moss are both "iffy" for the weekend, but like normal, most injury crap out of the Hoodie is exactly that... CRAP. I bet at least one plays and probably both.
Percy Harvin is on the shelf, confirmed
Matt Hasslebeck is unlikely to suit up, which is bad news for all other players you might have in Seattle.
