There might be a few nuggets on the wires still. Who might still be there.

- I mentioned Kyle Boller here last week, but Marc Bulger came back in the game and almost pulled it out for St. Louis. Either is available in most leagues and could be used as a spot starter.
- Kevin Kolb is worth stashing away if you have room. He proved he can be a fantasy QB factor earlier in the year.
- Glen Coffee might be on your wire after his injury, a bye week and the return of Frank Gore. He is a must as a hand cuff if available.
- If you need a spot starter or a flex guy, Mewelde Moore could be your guy.
- Mike Wallace might be available and he appear to have found a place among the Pittsburgh WRs, but only in deeper league and for a spot start perhaps.
- Due to injury and lack of production, Donnie Avery might be out there and would be a nice pick up right now.
- Sidney Rice could be available and he should get picked up in your league (me, I had him, just didn't start him)
- I have to mention Louis Murphy, just because of his high-effort blocking on the long Zach Miller TD.
- Bobby Wade is making inroads in Kansas City and could fill a #5 spot on your roster.
- If you are looking for a flier, try Hakeem Nicks. He posted a really nice game for the Giants on a poor day.
- I know, I have talked him up for weeks, but if JerMichael Finley is still there, grab him.
- Michael Crabtree is supposedly going to be starting for the 49'ers after the bye.
- If you think Lawrence Maroney was not a flash in the pan, picking him up as a 3rd or 4th RB could be a good move.

There were some significant injuries, but mainly to defensive players.

- Defensive injuries are big this week. Kris Jenkins for the Jets and Antwan Odom for the Bengals are really going to hurt, especially if Jenkins is lost long term.
- Watch Anquan Boldin's ankle injury. High ankle sprains are difficult to overcome
- Frank Gore should be back next week for San Fran
- Trent Edwards suffered a second career concussion against the Jets and is day to day at this point
- Donnie Avery is listed day-to-day as well from his unspecific hip injury

Just a few quick reactions to Sunday's action. Plus, a look back at my hand picked team from yesterday.

1) How long can the old man keep playing at this level? Farve's critical long pass to Sidney Rice near the end of the game was critical. Forever 4.

2) Sidney Rice has a breakout game, and his chemistry with Favre continues to grow. How long before he is the Viking's #1? Have to mention the strong performance of Adrian Peterson, sans TDs

3) Ray Rice put together almost 200 total yards and 2 TDs, in a losing effort

4) Drew Brees is back. He dismantled the Giants D with 4 TDs and 350+ Too many solid performances among his teammates to even mention

5) What happened to Eli Manning and the Giant offense? The only stand out was Hakeem Nicks, but it was fairly pedastrian across the board.

6) The MJD show continues to roll. 170+ combined and 3 TDs. Meanwhile, Steven Jackson continues to work on a really bad team.

7) I would have never thought the Texans would slow down the roll for Cedric Benson, especially when the Ravens could not last week. But they basically shut him down

8) Steve Slaton continues to struggle running the ball, but he posted a nice game via the air, 100+ and a long TD. Have to mention another nice game for Andre Johnson, even without a TD.

9) Detroit was altogether pathetic against the Packers. A shut out sucks no matter what.

10) Greg Jennings continues to be under untilized, but posted a quiet 6 for 64. Donald Driver continues to get the numbers with 100+ again

11) 350+ and a couple TDs is always nice for a QB, including Aaron Rodgers

12) Rothlisberger continues to have a very bright season, over 400 yards and 2 TDs. He is a definate top 5 QB this year.

13) A nice game for Mendenhall, although I would have expected over 100 yards against the poor Cleveland defense... guess 62 yards and a score is ok.

14) Cleveland continues to struggle on offense, with the only bright spot is the maturation of Muhammed Massaquoi

15) If Cadillac Williams posts 1000+ and 8 TDs this year, I will have to simply tip my hat. After two horrific knee injuries, for him to show the speed and cutting he did in today's game is remarkable. Posted a solid 77 and a score today.

16) Finally, DeAngelo Williams shows some signs of life. His 2 TDs and 150+ are by far his best effort this year. But the the HELL is up with Jake Delhomme? I didn't see the game, but guess he didn't have to throw the ball at all.

17) I wish I had something to say about the Skins v Chefs... but I don't.

18) What? How did Philly lose to Oakland? I guess Zach Miller beat 'em all by himself. Monster game for a TE 139 and a TD (an 86 yarder not to mention)

19) Sad to say, but Thomas Jones rushed for over 200 yards and still his team lost. Lucy, you got some 'splanin' to do!

20) Brady, Moss, Welker, and... Lawrence Maroney. Who? Yes, Maroney made an appearance on the fantasy landscape, but I bet there were few that even have him on their roster much less started him.

If I had to hand pick a team this weekend...

Ok, everyone wishes they could pick whoever they want as their team this weekend. Well, I am going to break on the all rules and do exactly that. If I had to choose guys I am really solid on, guys that are going to have great days on Sunday... this would be my team!

Tom Brady
The Titan defense has looked horrible against the pass, which makes no sense, but there it is. Brady, with all is his weapons in place, including Wes Welker, should rip up the Titans.

Maurice Jones-Drew
The Rams shouldn't slow MJD down at all, and the match up is perfect for him. Plus he has to back up his big words about being a "diversion" or "distraction" or whatever other BS he was saying.

Rashard Mendenhall
Mendenhall is starting against Cleveland, who has not been able to slow down anyone. I would think Mendenhall will have an equal day as Cedric Benson did a few weeks ago.

Larry Fitzgerald
I have referred to the Arizona v Seattle game as the track meet. Well the fastest guy on the track will be LFItz.

Randy Moss
Who in the heck is going to be Tom Terrific's main target against Tennessee? Well, I had to flip a coin here, either Moss or Wes Welker.

Brandon Marshall
Here is where I stick my flex player. I stayed away from the premier guys, but Brandon Marshall is on the rise and I think he will perform well against San Diego.

Jerermy Shockey
Not sure why I am picking Shockey and it still makes no sense to me, but revenge or a chip on the shoulder is a powerful motivator, I am just not sure he can pull it off against a strong New York defense.

If you have a better team you would start, email it in. I will post it and rip it to shreds (just kidding).

Guys I like and those I don't

I didn't have time for a full projections, so here are some guys I like to do well this weekend, and a few who I think are gonna suck (or fall short of expectations).

Those who should do well.

Quarterbacks:
- Tom Brady should eat the Titans suddenly suspect defense for breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Matt Hasselbeck should get into a shoot out with Kurt Warner and the Cards
- Speaking of Warner, the other side of the track meet should do fine as well
- There is nothing about the Cleveland defense that will slow down Ben Rothlisberger
- Aaron Rodgers should take apart the Lions, the only worry is the that O-line in Green Bay

Running Backs:
- Maurice Jones-Drew should find the going well against the Lambs
- I don't know what to think about Matt Forte anymore this year, but I will give him one more chance to shine
- Just like Forte above, Ryan Grant gets one more shot to prove he can perform, who better than against the Lions?
- Rashard Mendenhall, as long as he gets the bulk of the carries, should do great against the week Browns

Wide Receivers:
- Larry Fitzgerald should have a field day in a track meet with Seattle
- TJ House will be the other benefactor of the shoot out with Arizona
- Greg Jennings as mostly been a large disappointment, not even getting a reasonable amount of targets, but should fine success against Detroit
- Randy Moss / Wes Welker both should have strong games against Tennessee- Brandon Marshall will continue his comeback against San Diego

Tight Ends:
- John Carlson will reappear as a fatnasy tight end now that Hasselbeck is back
- Brent Celek should find some room against Oakland, if McNabb pays attention
- Dare I pick Jeremy Shockey against New York in a revenge job? Yes.

Those who are gonna suck.

Quarterbacks:
- I don't buy that Phillip Rivers is gonna go off on the Broncos like some of predicted (remember Brady last weekend?)
- Don't set your expectations too high for Drew Brees, the Giants D is for real again this year
- Jason Campbell is again on my shit list, even against the Chiefs.
- Joe Flacco might find some success against Minnesota, but less than you might think.

Runningbacks:
- Ray Rice won't find any more room vs the Viking defense than any back has this year.
- Adrian Petersen is a must start, but as in recent weeks, I wouldn't expect 150 and 3 TDs, temper your expectations
- Steve Slaton will find little room against the Bengals strangely good defense
- LaDainian Tomlinson is another sit this week against Denver, but when will he be a sure thing?

Wide Receivers:
- Steve Smith will falter against New Orleans, surprising his owners almost as much as his season so far
- DeSean Jackson will struggle against Asomugha (but keep your eye on Maclin)
- While Vincent Jackson has posted a strong season to date, Denver's pass rush will limit him
- Even though I am predicting the AZ / SEA shoot out, Nate Burleson won't participate
- Percy Harvin will struggle to find room against the Ravens

Tight Ends:
- JerMichael Finley had his coming out party when last we saw him, look for more of the same against Detroit
- The Bengals will shut down Houston, including Owen Daniels
- Antonio Gates should start for you, but be reasonable in what you expect.

Trade Bait 2

Yesterday I was talking about the undervalued players in the fantasy football landscape that might make some sense in making a play for. Today, let's talk about the over-valued... the guys you should try to dump if you can make a deal.

Ben Rothlisberger
Big Ben has been lights out, and yes, I know I listed him in my buy cheap list just yesterday. But consider this other side of the coin. If Mendenhall starts to run the ball with that old Steeler's authority, then Rothlisberger's numbers are only going to drop. If you can convince someone of his value, it might be time to package him up and sell him for a premium WR or RB with a known pedigree

Brett Favre
Favre has grabbed the limelight with his heriocs and strong performance in the Monday night game against Green Bay might have convinced some he is worth more than he is. Actually, he is a top 10 fantasy QB as it stands right now, so if you have him and can leverage him, now is the time.

Ronnie Brown
I have Brown on my own team and would have a hard time trading him right now, but consider this. Last year Brown made a fast start to the season, very similar to 2009, but faded badly in the second half. He is currently #2 in my league among backs. Just think what you could get for him.

Steve Smith
Yes, THAT Steve Smith. He is one of the top WRs in the league so far this year, but can he keep this roll going? A year ago, he was a struggling #3 or #4 wide out, and suddenly, this year, he is the best WR in the league? If you can sell him, I would, depending on value.

Nate Burleson
See Steve Smith above. Burleson has been in the league for long enough to complete underwhelme Fantasydom. Suddenly he is a top WR just because Matt Hasselbeck is healthy? I call it a sham. If someone is willing to trade good value for him, why not?

Donald Driver
No one is under the pretense that Double D is the next coming of Jerry Rice. But he is by far Aaron Rodger's favorite target so far this year. If you could trade him for a tier 2 RB, now is the time. There is just too much talent in Greg Jennings and JerMichael Finley for Driver to keep up solid, week to week numbers.

Kellen Winslow
SHAM! The Soldier will not keep up the numbers. He will either get hurt or alienate his teammates or his coaches, or some other cancerous behavior. He is sellable right now.

Trade Bait

As the fantasy landscape has unfolded, no doubt, there are many owners disappointed a player and pleasantly surprised by others. The wavier wire is starting to settle down by this time as well. Still looking for help for your pathetic team? Try these under valued players as targets to add to your team.

Steven Jackson
Surrounded by fantasy irrelevants, Jackson is having a unspectaclarly good season, averaging over 100 combined yards a game, but he has zero touchdowns. Normally, a star alone on a team is a formula for success. Jackson is going to score, but his value is low right now. Try making a pitch for him now and snag him if you can make a bargain. It will payoff in the end.

Ahmad Bradshaw
Brandon Jacobs is laying a fantasy egg, even with getting more touches than his more vigorous counterpart. Bradshaw is out performing Jacobs in a football and fantasy sense. Tom Coughlin would be ignorant not to recognize the better back and start tipping the scales towards Bradshaw's way. Take a chance and reap the rewards of stealing Bradshaw while you still can.

DeAngelo Williams
I am not a big fan of DeAngelo and still am not. I firmly believe his crazy year last year was a fluke. But he has been an absolute bust so far this year, and with Jonathon Stewart not pushing him at all, he figures to continue being the feature back in Carolina. If John Fox ever realizes his old formula of success is still there (run, run, run), Williams might have a solid 2nd half... but I still don't like him.

Greg Jennings
He has been a major disappointment to owners who invested a 2nd or 3rd round pick on him. But the potential is there, IF Aaron Rodgers starts to get time. Now, the Packers brought back veteran right tackle Mark Tauscher this week (to replace the turnstile of Barbre) and Chad Clifton should be back before too much longer. If the line stabilizes, Rodgers will have more time and finally connecting with Jennings when has been so wide open so often. Snap him up if you can.

Ted Ginn
Ginn has major speed and with Pennington at the controls, his ability to get deep was lost, since Chad can't over throw my grandmother! But with the young Chad Henne and his strong arm in the pocket, Ginn becomes viable again and he is DIRT cheap on the market right now.

Matt Hasselbeck
For those of you who doubt his ability this year, look at the Seattle wins and the loses this year. 'Nough said. If you need a strong starting QB (having banked on Jake Delhomme or Trent Edwards), make a bid and grab him if you can. Most owners are going to be skittish about his injuries, but I think he is back for the year, that rib thing was a fluke.

Ben Rothlisberger
Big Ben is still getting disrespected across fantasyland, but in actuality, he is a top 10 QB so far this year. He is consistently putting up strong numbers week after week as Pittsburgh continues to struggle running the ball (Rashard Mendenhall's recent success aside). By the way, he is second in fantasy scoring my league and I have him, but won't trade him!

Brandon Marshall
Do a deal for Marshall now and quick if you can. He is going to explode... I just feel it. As Denver continue to establish its identity and the timing and chemistry grows between the under-rated Kyle Orton and the mega-talented Marshall, his numbers are only going to keep climbing.

Knowshon Moreno
With Buckhalter on the shelf and the confidence in Denver mounting, Moreno is only going to get better. If he can hold onto the ball a bit better and continue to improve blitz pick ups, his value gets better and better. Plus, I like how he runs and what I have heard about his natural leadership abilities and how much the staff in Denver seems to like the rookie.

Dwayne Bowe
I really like Bowe if Matt Cassel makes better strides. Kansas City is going to be behind and often this season with their porous defense, so Tod Haley will turn the air attack loose. Bowe is a bargain right now.

Today's Hottie: Mandy Domingues

Breaks

There were several break out, break throughs, break backs, etc this last weekend. But some of these are complete shams while others could be the real thing.

Jeremy Maclin:
I drafted Maclin for myself, thinking he would have immediate impact with receiver hungry Donovan McNabb. Here is my take. Maclin will do fine, and probably fairly consistantly IF McNabb is under center. Backup Kerry Kolb utterly ignored him, preferring Brent Celek. Now, 6 catches for 142 and 2 scores is a nice performance, but don't expect this kind of production. This was literally a coming out party. Maclin is the #2 behind DeSean Jackson, but he definately has skill and a demonstrated chemistry with his QB.

Miles Austin:
Austin posted the best game of his career, and infact, the best day of any Cowboy receiver on any given day. But let's look at reality here. Austin has been with Dallas since 2006. His best total was last year with 13 catches for 278 yards. Yes, that's right... THIRTEEN receptions. Even this year, most of his totals YTD are from this one game last weekend. He does bear watching now that he has his chance to shine (Roy Williams is out for a bit), but I can't put too much stock in a late bloomer like this. With Romo spreading the ball around like he normally does, I think this is strictly an anomally. Prove me wrong Miles.

Austin Collie:
I mentioned this in my previous posts this week, but Austin studies more film and spends more time at it than... you guessed it, Peyton Manning. Now I am not comparing their talent, there is no comparison, but even as a rookie, Collie is displaying the right traits to have staying power. Yet, with Wayne and Clark on the roster, Collie will do ok, splitting time with Pierre Garcon (and Anthony Gonzales when he returns in a few weeks), but don't expect great things week to week, a spot starter or flex guy... maybe.

Chris Henry:
I was high on Henry in the preseason and drafted him as my last WR, thinking to take a chance on him. But ever since, he has utterly disappeared. His pattern continues from past years, having a big game or two, teasing us poor fantasy owners, then either poor decisions off the field or poor performances on it leave us teased and taunted. I am not ready to trust him... not until I see Carson Palmer targetting him more frequently and more regularly.

Vernon Davis:
Davis has started to show his first signs of life since his career began. But let me make my case. Davis I think needed the disciplined approach of coach Mike Singletary and frankly, a kick in the ass. He is now a team voted caption and is becoming a reliable target. I would take a chance on Davis if you need a quality TE or even a spot starter.
I don't have much input on the QB or RB side unfortunately. Nothing really or truly surprising out there.
