The Waiver Wire

I am really starting to like FoxSports.com for its analysis. I originally started reading Roger Rotter's stuff, and featured his Waiver Wire top 10 here last week. This week, Mike Harmon is writing his Waiver Review. With the fantasy playoffs looming and the stretch run in full swing, a good pick up could be critical. Here is Mike's article and my thoughts on his list below.

Alex Smith - I am completely on board here. Smith is a solid match up replacement if you need one, especially with the injuries starting to mount on the QB front

Vince Young - I am not ready to proclaim VY as a fantasy stud, and his play has been and will continue to be erratic from a fantasy perspective... ups and downs.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - Ok, he has had a couple solid games, but nothing outstanding. I would go with Smith first.

Josh Freeman - ... or Freeman. I have to admit surprise at how well Freeman has done. Winslow and the returning Antonio Bryant give him some legit targets, so reasonable success it not hard to expect.

Jerious Norwood - If Norwood starts, he is an excellent pick up. His production will depend on Turner's health and sharing his touches with Jason Snelling. If he is available, take a chance if you need help.

Rock Cartwright - Only pick up Cartwright if you REALLY need help. I am not a huge believer either.

Jason Avant - Avant is playing well, even though he has been around a while. With Jackson likely out for a week or two with the concussions, Avant should start and get go production along with the increase in playing time.

Kenny Britt - He is a good pick up in my book, although his production will be directly related to the erratic work of QB Vince Young.

Antonio Bryant - I dropped Bryant earlier in the year and but might have to pick him up. Josh Freeman has a live arm and got the ball to Bryant in the loss to Atlanta.

Robert Meachem - His now leads the Saints WRs in TDs. He doesn't get a ton of receptions, and his yardage is middling, but he has been getting in the endzone.

Lex Hilliard - Hilliard is clearly the number 2 behind Williams, but can produce a few points for those desparate for help.

Fred Davis - Davis has been quiet up until this past week. If you need a TE, he fits the bill, but don't expect excellent production, just a steady 8-10 fantasy points in PPR leagues, with another spike or two to come.

That is all for now. Out!
