I know, the waiver wire is looking thin these days as the season continues to shake itself out.
- Austin Collie will be a hot commodity if he is not already taken. Like many, I picked up Pierre Garcon last week... wish I had Collie right now. Interesting tidbit picked up yesterday from an interview: Austin Collie is quizzed by his wife on the plays. Now that is a hungry and dedicated player.
- Miles Austin might be out there on the wire. Here is a guy who has never started in his young career, but in his first start, puts up the largest numbers of any Cowboy receiver... ever. Beat that Michael "The Crack-wagon" Irvin.
- Keep your eye on Kyle Boller. He is close to taking Marc Bulger's starting spot in St Louis. Or at least one pundit claimed today. Yet another said don't bother. Whatever the case, don't bank your team on him, but a bye week or injury replacement, he might do ok.
- Mike Vrabel should get a spot on your team. 11 career receptions, 11 career TDs. (tongue tucked neatly into cheek)- There is nothing of value on the entire Cleveland team from a fantasy perspective except the occassional nice ground day (think Lewis and Harrison of the past two weeks) or the exception against the rule with a nice receiving performance (think Massaquoi last week). Forget the quarterbacks. How can you start a guy who goes 2 for 17 in a game or the guy who lost his job to him?
- Jerry Maclin was on my draft target list and held a spot on my roster early in the year, yet when McNabb got hurt, Maclin disappeared. Lo and behold, McNabb returns and Maclin breaks out. Coincidence? I think not. If McNabb stays healthy, Maclin should take a spot starter or perhaps flex start on your team.
- Jamaal Charles is a whisker from taking the starting RB job in KC. The numbers bear it out, so if he is out there and you have room, stash him away.
- With Sammy Morris apparently the main guy in New England (since Fred Taylor is out with injury), what the hell has happened to the once promising Lawrence Maroney?
- I will continue to bash on Jason Campbell until it gets through to everyone, but he is NOT a starting fantasy QB despite a couple of nice games. He lays complete stinky eggs as much or more than his occasional good games.
Not a ton on the injury front this week, other than guys coming back:
- Glen Coffee messed up his legs and early indicators are he is questionable for week 7 after their bye next week. Who in the heck is the third guy in SF?
- Doesn't look like Eli Manning has any ill affects from his foot in NY. Even resting when the game got out of hand didn't disapate a nice game posted in short work.
- Welcome back Matt Hasselbeck. 4 TDs? When healthy he is worth a starting spot.
